keyboard for text and numbers covering up stuff

I have a panel full screen with input text. When I go to type in the info, the keyboard pops up. The problem is that is it over top of the input area. is there a way to have a option to move it to the top? or is there a way for the panel/screen to scroll upwards so the keyboard is not over the info? I'm sure this has been talked about before, but I can't seem to find out the info.
