Android Question Log Not Showing On Honor MagicPad 4 [SOLVED}

I am trying to transfer an old app to a new tablet (Honor Magicpad 4) and have discovered that the log is not being displayed. I get the line "Logger connected to: Honor YLE-W09" but nothing more. I have seen a few posts regarding this problem but they all refer to phones not tablets. I did enable developer mode and have changed a few settings but the problem persists. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I specifically need to change to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Came back to look at the problem again this morning and it now works correctly. No idea what the solution was but in hindsight the only thing I didn't do was reboot the computer and tablet.
