Microsoft plots the end of Visual Basic

Hello forum members, I am new to the subject and so, I ask the B4A gurus if these Microsoft decisions really affect the future of this project so as to give up my learning curve. I appreciate suggestions.

B4X has nothing to do with VB .Net. There is some opportunity here that VB developers will migrate to B4X.

There are many B4X developers with many different backgrounds. B4X is not built as a VB alternative.

Hello,

Ahhh, memories, memories, when you take us away from reality.

As Erel said:
It's not a big surprise. VB .Net, especially since the introduction of WPF, does not offer the simple and powerful concepts of a real RAD tool.

To be honest, it's may be the time to forget it, right ?

And so that nobody is mistaken about the relevance of my message on this subject. I was a developer on several languages when even MS Visual Basic didn't exist. For example, the 6502 assembler, the Basic language on Oric, the Basic language of MS DOS and many others since.
I have also developed for a long time under MS Visual Basic, and I have often grumbled against the ton of libraries required for deployment.
While at that time the "microcomputer" had just been born and was not very old, it had only very little memory and a small space of storage, even external.

Some here certainly remember their sources of their programs saved on cassette recorders !

So that's why I don't really regret them.
Maybe like when our ancestors used kerosene lamps ;)
I'm pretty sure they would have liked to use electricity ?

Without any ambiguity, B4X environment is a "must have" in terms of development tools.

It's my 2 cents, and I prefer to conclude the deep meaning of my intervention as a joke ?

Have a good day.

For my age it's 65 since January 22, but that's not difficult to suppose with what i said in my messsage ;)

-> To DonManfred: No, not 5th August, see above. But how you know my wife birthday date, you, hummm ??? ??;))

SAD news ...
I think this will affect B4X future spread!
B4X is depending on vb-like developers.

I can't agree. I have never used BASIC of any flavour by choice though on occasion have been forced to by circumstances (e.g. maintenance programming). I started using B4A having struggled to get fairly straightforward examples to work on Android Studio and Xamerin and with Rad Studio prices going through the roof, having actually been put off by the "BASIC" part of the name but I think it's a great system and supported by a very nice and tolerant bunch of people.

I really want B4X to be the new home of the BASIC world for developers as well as for companies and Governments, all the tools are fantastic, they are more intuitive and better thought out, here we can develop and have a secure fortress.

Some time ago I registered my manifest in

procure Ctrl + = " MY MANIFEST ", na época eu conhecia pouco B4X, mas agora sei que essa casa existe e é aqui.

Thank you so much B4X for you exist

Nope - dont give up on the learning curve - it's not that steep - and in a week from now you won't regret the decision.
● Search the forum
● Examine the examples and tutorial
● Seek adopt and acknowledge the members' advice and guidance

And you'll soon forget VB-anything existed.
