iOS Question Need Help Selecting iOS Device

Hi,

I am new to iOS Development; I also dont have any Apple Devices. I need help selecting iOS device to purchase.

I want to know if other devices like iPad Mini and iPod 5th Gen can be used instead of iPhone, since iPhone are more expensive. Both devices i mentioned can run iOS8 according to Wikipedia.

My plan is to use iPod touch 5th Gen to make Apps for iOS.

Possible? can anyone confirm?

You can use any device that runs iOS 7+.

one more questions, If i submit apps on store, are they ok with screenshots with iPod written on them instead of iPad or iPhone ?

The screenshots only need to be in the correct size.

i have ios 6.1.6 and can't install any application.

Why it is depend on ios 7+?
