as my home machine, which I use for developing is coming to its 15th year of activity, I was evaluating using a laptop as the main home PC, after a life of using desktops or towers.
I see many of you are using notebooks.
Is the desktop era actually ended?
As I use a laptop at work, the most annoying thing is the ventilation fan noise, which I think will kick-in frequently while compiling/debugging.
I'm exactly the opposite, I have a laptop that's maybe 14 years old.
The fan never starts, probably because I keep the power supply connected all the time.
It's obvious that a desktop has the advantage of possible expansions, as well as the fact that if something breaks, you can replace it yourself.

that's probably because it's an old model: I always use mine with power supply connected.
I noticed that on battery power, CPU frequency gets limited to save power, so less heat and lower fan levels, but it's running slower...
I haven't used a laptop for a long time. The screen size is too small and the noise is louder.
I prefer the comfort of a desktop with 2 screens. I would like a third vertical.
I also have an android 4.4 a 5.0 a 9.0 a 10.0 a 12.0. In fact, I kept all the old devices and use them for development.
