Android Question Phone Sensor Calibration

Hi everybody,
is there a known way to determine by software, that the phonesensors (orientation) need a recalibration by moving "the classical eight" with the phone? In several programs there comes from time to time a hint to recalibrate internal sensors. Hard to find out if this get's triggered somehow by software (this would be nice) or if it is just a "preventive routine" popping up from time to time.
I don't want to confront the user of the software only when really needed with that recalibration-thing, the solution with an preventive call is not my first choice...
