From the critics I've read, most RPi users don't see this version as much enthusiasm...
They rekon that only a few MHz faster and WIFI/BLE onboard do not make it that much appealing, and hoped to have 2GB RAM instead.

I expected to see more RAM and native analog inputs on the GPIO, though WIFI and BLE are great additions.

The processor improvements are much more than the 2 MHz bump in clock speed. The processor is now 64-bit (even though the Raspbian image provided is still a 32-bit OS). Also, it's moved up to the ARMv8 instruction set whereas earlier Pis were using the ARMv7 instruction set. This will see improved performance under some types of workloads. Indeed, a lot of the tests and benchmarks coming out show a considerable improvement in performance over the Pi 2, much more than can be accounted for by a simple 20% increase in clock speed. And all these upgrades were performed while maintaining the same price as the Pi 2.

Here's an interesting overview: http://hackaday.com/2016/03/01/pi-3-benchmarks-the-marketing-hype-is-true/ . Feel free to jump into the Java flame war in the comments section. Your honor must be avenged.

Any news about Raspberry Pi performance?
Is it possible to use build in Bluetooth LE in b4J?
