Android Question Scanner routines

I need to use a scanner in my app.
There are quite a few on this site, but I am not sure which one is best for me. I mainly need to scan PDF-417 format.
I wished to try the one by DonManfred, but struggle to make ends meet. Scanner by DonManfred
I wish to use the 'com.google.android.gmslay-services-vision' type.
I have also imported the 'CameraExClass' module into my app, but also struggle to find out how to work it.

Any advice will be appreciated.
