Today, when asked what happened, was it part of the Solarwind hack? Google says it had issues in its 'authentication' system. Well how Do hackers break in?

Here's my experience. Years ago our networks fell over - everything.

Senior sysadmin told me they had tried to fight off a break in attempt for close to an hour....80k drops per minute. Remember, years ago, things were slower....but still impressive. Drops were coming via Isreal ?.

I asked what eventually stopped the raid? Well, sysadmin said, effectively I walked across the room and pulled the plug out of its socket, left it for 45 mins, rebooted from cold start. It had gone.

I'll take bets now for what Google actually did yesterday. Cash only no EFTs no receipts....

?

Come to think of it....failing cash a copy of this will do.....Digital Apollo

in fact, unplugging is often the best solution. But remember before saving the source b4x that you are working or activating the autosave

Overlooking the overblown description of the book you will find if you read it (amongst many other fascinating pieces of geek information) that 'heroic' Armstrong didn't actually take over control from the 'failing' computer as the media would have it - he merely overrode the automatic landing site designation and retargeted it. The computer was still 'flying' the lander as it would be impossible for a human to do it as it required constant adjustment for centre of gravity and other changes as the fuel level dropped and the attitude of the lander changed. Also although the computer was overloaded there was no real problem as the real-time design of the software meant that critical flight control routines were always run on time and it was low priority routines that were dumped. Why it happened is all in the book! I do detest it when the non-technical media hype things beyond reality to satisfy their 'heroic spacemen' agendas when the truth is far more interesting (and nuanced).
