Java Question Sql Server Connection

Hi,
I new android development.
I generally use vb.net for app deployment.
So i like basic4android for my habit.

My question is:
Can i connect sql server and do some stuff use with android wireless?

My project database (sql server 2008) is on windows server.
Client device is andorid. and i want to make android app which connect my database.

Can i do this?
