what is the right word for this?

i cannot call it a train its just a part of it. in german the word is Waggon.

I don't know about in English but in American that's a 'car'. As in ... "Sitting here at the railroad crossing watching all of the train cars pass by very slowly while trying to get to the office."

No. In railroads, there's the 'engine' or maybe 'locomotive' that does the pulling/pushing and then there are the 'cars' that hold the cargo. No wagons. Again, in American. Or, at least, Midwest USA American ... it's a big place.

Train, yes. The entire train (Engine, Cars, etc.).

I don't think train is the right word... I'd stick with wagon, mine cart, cart or car (in this order).

Seeing it context, I'd say it's a cart or rail cart. Even mine cart would do.

From the first post I was thinking that cart would be appropriate and looking at it's use I would agree that cart is the best word for this item.
