Android Question Trap "recent apps" soft key

I can't find a thread on this which is a bit suprising.

Can I trap the "recent apps" softkey - the one to the left of the home button?

No, it is not possible.

I notice when the "recent apps" softkey is hit the activity in control at the time goes thru Pause - is there any code that I could put in Pause to cause the app/activity to rise from the ashes?

Thanks Erel, was able to come up with a solution to my problem with this.
