In this link https://github.com/esp8266/Arduino/releases , a lot of bug fixes are mentioned.
I was interested in following

• Support AP and STA interfaces at the same time
• WiFiClient: add support for connect and write timeout (#1420, #3247, #2120)

You can update the ESP8266 SDK to the latest version. Unless there are breaking changes, the B4R libraries will continue to work properly.
