Is there any way to implement USB communications from the Android device?
This would be calls similar to mscomm in the old visual studio6

Did you check if the IOIO library meets your requirements: http://www.b4x.com/forum/additional-libraries-official-updates/8942-ioio-board-library.html

Another option is to use Bluetooth with a Bluetooth to USB adapter.
