    The Gimp and Inkscape. Tried Paint.net in the past and it's pretty good.
    Also some Blender for fancy stuff :)

    Adobe Photoshop CS6 - No contest.
    EDIT: Oops, you meant free as in 'legally free'... In that case, mspaint.exe :D

    GIMP, Inkscape, Paint.Net, IcoFX and IconEdit Pro. They are so different, so I couldn't really do without any of them.

    Paint.net is simple, free, and awesome.

    I tried Adobe once but I it made me think too hard.
    I still have nightmares about the first time I tried to draw a simple line in Adobe.
    Drawing a circle nearly made me cry.
    That was a life changing event for me. I will never be the same again... :eek:

    I love Photoshop!! It took me only 20 minutes to come up with this ad!! :)
