I thought that there was a world map with pushpins of all the B4X users, but I can not find it.

Was/is there?

Not that I remember, but... it'd be kinda fun to see this plotted on a map:

And Erel's "online" pushpin would be displayed 24/7 :D

(but of course each of his pushpins will have a sub-title of "clone1", "clone2", etc)

I asked @Erel about this in a personal comm and he was not happy with supplying the location information for members as this represented personal data he was not comfortable with issuing. I used work with GIS stuff in real life and wanted to see if I could create a mapping of these locations.

So with respect to and for @Erel and as an ex IT proff in *SA with our Protection of Personal Information Act I had to just leave it at that.

The only way I could do this is to get people to voluntarily agree to their location being added to a database that could be set into a GIS.

NO NOT South Australia . . . we play real rugby here. Not that dainty run-around-a-cricket-field with goal posts stuff, , ,

In each forum user's "Settings....Account Details" there is a "Location:" textbox.

Why not use that value for the map because if the user did fill in a location, then obviously they're ok with disclosing that.

And besides, each pushpin doesn't even need to have a user name attached to it - it could just be a blank pushpin just to signify that a B4X user is near this location.

The map could be both useful and fun too - so we can see, for example, how many B4X user's there are in No. Korea.

Yup, but I have looked at member profiles with a click on their avatar - not many actually fill in the location. all those on this thread page did. And, still as @Erel indicated, and I said above, one would have to get their permission first to publically display that. Remembering that the forum member's list is a "closed list" (essentially) and, there are different laws all over the palce. Ours here is based on demands made by FIFA in 2010 when international fans were arriving and FIFA said they had to have the rights and protections as er WHEREVER. Interestingly it only kicked in in full in 2019 called the POPI act.

[ed[it] Sorry @emexes hasn't added his/her location in the profile.

re[ed[it] NO really @emexes it was correct at the time of going to press.....?

Also, don't have access credentials to see that page of their account details . . . .thopugh i think that is what is quoted on the pupup when you click rabbitBUSH at th left side there.

When you hover over a user's name under their avatar, it will display their location if they provided one.

Wow - that's a pretty strict act, because I would think that blank pushpins (without any name attached to them so they are purely anonymous), would be ok.

There is still the personal permission bit per individual. I'm giving an alternative some thought.

Yes there was John, it used to be on the top left hand side of the forum in one of the drop down menus. I'm not sure when Erel removed it, but at a quick guess I would say that it was removed when the forum template was updated (but it way have been removed earlier than that). I personally like it, my location was pinned on there as well as many other forum members. I too looked for it a couple of months ago, only to realise that sadly it has been removed.

You're right, there used to be one in the dropdown at the top of this forum
Not that I remember
You are not remembering correctly then :D

We could think of representing just aggregate data.
B4Xers for country or in a 50km range from a given coordinate, something like that.
Anyway, base data should be collected with respect to personal data protection laws and..we are at square zero again :)
