I don't think in this case it is: all runs local in your browser. We checked this out in the past and we found it rather bloated (initial 53 MB + 265 MB resources). Up to now, we find it more like a nice 'curiosity' and haven't found a real world case for it. The user experience is also not that good (compared with 'real' Office products)

But even if it were "lighter" and faster, what would be the advantage of having a "local web office"?

Probably more of an advantage for a developer who no longer has to build specific executables for the various platforms. It's one code set for all platforms that can run a browser.
