Hi,
I am a newbie to B4A and to android development in general.

To start developing I would like to test using an emulator. It seems to be the easier method for development.

What do I need to do to install and use an emulator? Which free emulator is recommended for using with B4A?

Thanks!
Edgard

1. You can find Instructions for the B4A AVD Manager/Emulator here:
https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/gui-avd-manager-emulator.80348/

2. There is a GenyMotion emulator that can be used for free, for non professional use. Have a look at their website:
https://www.genymotion.com/

To start with, I would recommend the B4A Manager/Emulator.

Regards

I also am a newbie downloading the GenyMotion emulator this morning. My buddy who is light-years ahead of me recommended it.

Thanks! The GenyMotion emulator worked perfectly. The "B4A AVD Manager/Emulator" gives an error on my machine... something about hardware acceleration.

After a while Genymotion stopped working.... I think it had something to do with me using the latest Oracle VirtualBox version.... So I tested other emulators.

BlueStacks 3 works quite well so far. Running the application from B4X will install it on the emulator.

I also tried NOX. I could get it working using B4A bridge. I didn't install YouWave because it is currently incompatible with VirtualBox (they say they are working on it).

My choice for now is BlueStacks 3.

Thanks to all!

Worth a try is the Visual Studio Emulator for Android

Fast as real devices but Android API 23 is the latest...
