hi

lately i am having lags when using b4a. especially while typing suddenly the IDE freezes and the letters appear after few seconds. i tried to reinstall b4a but it did not help. what can i do to improve it?
my pc is not to old and it should work fine with b4a.

My suggestion is stop any auto-update in the background and check any suspicious services are running. If your project is too big, disable auto backup.

Are you using Windows 11?
Google search leads me to the reason due to low disk space and outdated drivers.
Try:
B4X:
sfc /scannow

I would blame Windows updates and Defender.

I think you nailed it with both answers @aeric !!!

Sometimes a Windows update on a driver causing an issue.

Windows 11 always have issues. That's why many users insist to upgrade from Windows 10.

I've had the same problem for a while. I assumed it happens when the auto backup is taking place, because I am using a (slow) USB memory for saving the files. The text on screen also goes 'blurred' whilst it is frozen. It also crashes the IDE sometimes if you continue typing without noticing it has frozen.
But then again it is windows 11 so who knows?

Also dont forget to check in Microsoft Store > Library (left bottom of window) as that will update system components that windows update doesn't.

When it happened to me, what i did was to restart the PC, it started happening after a week or two without powering it off

and i mean the fullly shutdown, i think Windows has a soft shutdown something like that

I turned off autosave and auto backup yesterday and haven't had the problem again yet - early days but promising!

Disabled auto backup, especially if your project is extremely large. Apart from that I'm blank.

I have the same issue with about three or four client projects, turning off auto backup fixed my issues...
i think this was the issue, i turned off autosave and autobackup and it seems to be more responsive.
it is indeed a big project with big files (~50mb)

thanks guys ? ?

after making all changes and working yesterday for 4 hours straight i had the same issue after 1-2 hour so did not help.
the emulator is always on. could it be the reason for the slow down of the system?
