Why not to add ? For direct device debug by manual commands into the connected port.
Just like in Arduino's serial monitor...

This is exactly the purpose of the external serial connector: https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/tool-external-serial-connector.65724/

You can configure the IDE to use it in the boards selector dialog:

But anyway just 2 views directly at "Connect" button would be much more convenient and fast for debug ...
Without need to switch to another app...
