Android Question Background app issues with sdk30

Hi.
I have a query as I am a bit confused.
Is it possible or not possible to make an android application stay in the background?
and if it is possible which way?

With old sdk (28,29) I always work without problems, now it is not possible

I had always followed the example explained here:

and it worked perfect, now it doesn't work, it stops

It is possible, but many devices won't let your app run forever and will kill it at some point.
