Just a question - is it only one instance of the IDE running?
Next - are you sure that the IP of the phone is on the list of the IP's in the Tools->BA Bridge->Connect? If so - just select it from the list.
And the last. Make sure that the phone and the computer are in the same network. Maybe the phone or computer connected to some open wi-fi?

Thanks for your suggestions. Only one IDE runbning. Phone IP address is in the list. Selecting it gives "ping failed".

I have been using B4A bridge to connect to my device and occasionally I have used the USB connection after having enabled the developer option. I have used either of these methods with no troubles. Now, for reasons unknown to me, both methods fail. Using the USB connection it report 'no device...

Have you tried rebooting your internet router as well?
The router may have an IP leasing issue. If so, rebooting your main internet router might work for you.
