DBUtils example

After unzipping it, I couldn't see the b4a project.. am I missing something?

I just downloaded the DBUtils.zip file from the first post here, unziped it and there is a DBUtils.b4a file included !

Thanks Klaus,and now it is ok..I realy don't know what happened and will see what went wrong.
But now the real problem!
I installed the app in my phone.. the problem is:each time I restart the app again, without any modification and even without touching it, ALL fields of John Smith(x) change and take new values!!!all of them including the student ID, and this is true for all
students!
Is this from my phone or what?

That's how Erel wrote it.
If you look at the code you'll see that the database is filled evry time you run the program with the FillStudentsTable and FillGradesTable routines and there the valueas are generated randomly.

First, no need to mention the fierce fight against time Erel is waging.. everyone knows that.
Now:

During 1998-1999 I worked in the position of QA engineer at IBM Speech Unit, in West Palm Beach, Florida, as member of the IBM ViaVoice SDK test team (contractor).
Developers sent us binaries (dll files, ActieXs...etc.) and we designed container
applications to test them. ping pong game between us and developers continued for a year, then the product was shipped with may defects deferred to next version!
One of my assignments was testing the documentation,(severity 4 defects). I also
wrote the DictaPad example application that was shipped with the tools. it showed how to use the dictation engine.
We were told that an example application, like VB Biblio.mdb is a complete application
that users of your software will build on and expand. Of course,any learner must
do their homework, even Kindergartners have homework. but still I believe software examples are expected to be simple, short, but complete, so users can spend the time in learning and expanding them, instead of deciphering.
Erel may have a strategy that he wants strong and knowledgeable developers, not hobbyists.

I've been saying that for a couple of years. They think it's me. I think Erel needs to stop programming for a bit and 1) fix the many little things and 2) write tutorials. The tutorials they have now are not tutorials, they are code with comments. If anyone disagrees, go to the beginner's guide and look up info on canvas'. What you get a an advanced lesson on how to design a compass.

So here's my question: if no one can figure this stuff out, then why do it? Why waste you life designing a program without simple instructions? If only 20 people in the world understand, then why waste your life??? My advice is to concentrate on the teaching part as the B in BASIC stands for beginners.

When it comes to me,I have no problem going back to the example code and remove this and add that, until the example works as expected(in real life)..in the case of DBUtils, add records,delete records, search... etc..and how SQL statements are stitched in b4a..
Some educators say that this way (editing examples), students can learn more

The DBUtils example is a great relational database app... and in my opinion, if the example only contained 2 or 3 tables, with just 2 records on each, and a few more buttons to add new records,delete records, give permission to edit names.. and records are persistant and saved etc,then beginners will be more happy.
"Hello World" is common to all programming languages.. They first tell you to open a new project add a button.. double-click and write....blabla.. then they tell
you now run (your) program,then they tell you CONGRATULATION!! You have just finished (your) first program!! while you didn't do anything except religiously copying their work.. but honestly I felt good .. and this is the exact effect they were looking for. encourage.
Sooner or later Erel will stop writing tutorials and examples, so we should enjoy this golden time where he is personally replying to us.. (hello Erel!)

I bet if today I just walked along (somewhere) wearing a hat with B4A on it, then tomorrow you could see a sign on the homepage of this website,saying it is (under maintenance) until Erel manages to build a full-time tech team, to face the influx of orders and subsequent tech questions.
