Many times we rely on external sites for our apps, and if the site in question shut?

We use this or that web service and then what?

Better not to do it.

but I think it's best to get your own hosting to place your generated json/xml/whatever.

if it goes down you have either control over it or you know who to contact.

using external APIs is a bigger problem I guess since it's completely beyond your own control.

In fact, just reading this thread I thought again to this topic.

I think you mean relying instead of learning as stated in the topic.

And indeed it's a disadvantage to rely on 3rd parties.

Depending on the application you can parse data several time a day and keep it cached on your own server
so that you have something to work with when they are just down when a sync (for a new user) happends.

I use Google Translate and then I try to correct some flaws.
In this case, it has translated using the verb:
LEANING.
I had not noticed, copied and pasted quickly.
Indeed, it seems to have no sense in that context.
