Development roadmap and updates?

Greets to the community,

First post and all, and a couple of questions. I'm getting ready to purchase B4A with the 2yr update plan. My questions: how often do updates occur and is there a development roadmap posted anywhere for reading?

As for updates, do they occur regularly or when a sufficient number of bugs have been squashed and an update is appropriate.

For development, mostly just curious to see where B4A is headed.

I'm currently using Eclipse and the Android SDK, which works fine, but B4A is quite fun to use and I can prototype more quickly. Who would have thought that BASIC I learned so long ago would be leveraged again ... :)

Keep up the great work. Cheers. :sign0098:

Hi.

I've been a B4A user since the start of June last year.
I started with version 1.5 or 1.6 back then and six months later we have the latest 1.8.

B4A is maturing rapidly.

Bugs and update requests are taken notice of - subscribe to that forum.

Just look at the activity on the forum and you'll see that the license fee is well worth paying for.

I bow to the forum.

Martin.

I had exactly the same question when I purchased v1.7

I found an overview of the different versions somewhere on the forum, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

But my conclusion was there was a new version every 2-3 months.

I would suggest to take the professional version.

Erel is a busy man :)

I started with the cheapest B4A in January 2010. When the update period ran out, I upgraded to the 2-year plan because the updates are always awesome!!! I have not regretted it for one second.

Well, I "pulled the trigger" this morning and purchased the 2yr version. :)

I was discussing some mobile applications ideas with my business partners over dinner last night and mentioned B4A. Up until now, I've been working with Eclipse and the Android SDK directly. It works, but it's pretty slow for prototyping. As we're a small company, and I'm the lead (only) programmer, any application that will make my life easier/simpler is appreciated. :)

I'm excited about B4A and the community seems quite friendly and helpful. I have 20+ years of IT experience behind me (semi-retired now), mostly as a system administrator. However, the companies I worked for never really adopted Java technologies, so I do have a bit of a learning curve ahead. Using Eclipse and the SDK have taught me that ... ;)

Anyway, we'll see where it all leads to and I look forward to being part of the B4A community!

Cheers!
