Is there anywhere B4a stores a backup file of the project...???!??!!

B4A doesn't create backups.

What got corrupted? if you can open the source code you could copy/paste.

No help with your present problem, but after losing or having files corrupted due to computer failures, power blips/outages and/or hard disk failures (it is not a case of 'if your hard disk fails' but a case of 'when your hard disk fails'), AND finding that my last backup was often done several months ago, I finally opted for an online backup system. I use Carbonite Home ($59.99 per year - see http://www.carbonite.com/) and it has saved me many headaches. I have done complete restores 3 times and, since I can view the backed up files as if it were a disk drive and it keeps several versions of a file, have been able to use it to restore a single file that was accidentally deleted or had become corrupted. It runs in the background, does the backing up automatically, and, as long as I am online, is seldom more than 1/2 hour behind any changes I have made to any file. I figure it is money well spent. I know there are other, similar options, and I think any serious computer user should seriously consider using such a system.

Thanks for that....I bought Pc worlds livedrive but turned it of as it was so slow! ..Anyway I bit the bullet and re-coded the whole app from memory....about 80% there but I learned a lot....

But it is a shame that a .bak file isn't automatically created if loaded in memory...

I have all B4A projects in a separate folder that is synced to free cloud storage .. just in case.

I write my projects directly out of dropbox folders. It is free and basically backed up always. I do make a copy of the zipped projects each week or so.

For many years I have used a free program named Cobian Backup. It can zip and back up any files on a scheduled basis to any location. I have some files which just back up to a USB flash and others zipped to a TrueCrypt (also free) encrypted virtual drive which is synced to a (free) Google Cloud drive every night.

Why buy when the Windows OS has the backup features built in?
Microsoft also have the free SyncToy tool that is really useful:

Some versions of Windows automatically save "previous versions" of files. Win XP Pro & Win 7 Pro, for example, and others. To see if yours supports that, go into Windows Explorer and right-click on the corrupted file (or even better, the root folder of your project) and look for a menu item called "Restore previous versions" or something similar.
