When my app runs, I want to display a value in the top msg bar. Sorry I may not be calling it the correct name (top msg bar). I would need it to display even when my app is paused.

Can someone point me to what docs I would need to look at?

Thanks...

Is there a way to just have text display (2 chars) in the notification area instead of an icon?

A notification cannot have 'No Icon' you have to set a transparent Icon. The Ticker Text shown with notifications only shows for a few seconds.

Just an idea ans I don't know how to do it off the top of my head. You could possibly build the icon drawable making it a image of the characters you wish to display. they set it as the notification icon. I would think this would require a canvas. Someone else could help more with this.

I used the .Number member and it does display digits in the lower right corner of the icon, but it's extremely small and very hard to see. I have too many numbers to make images for all of them, but I like your thinking!

What sort of info are you needing to display. Please give an example
and for how long?

Thanks

Activity.Title

What about this:

Activity.Title = "My text"

Displays text in the titlebar of your application.
I use this a lot for debugging and testing.

I didn't want the user to have to flick down the notification bar to see it...

Ahhh I understand now...unfortunately, my apps do not use the title bar. But that's a good Plan B...
