Android Question Donmanfred example of extracting text from picture!!

An old thread ans closed long time ago. I tried the example and it was installed successfully, but two things:
1. The camera faced me and not the picture.. there's no button or control to change the camera's direction.
2. There's no button or menu item to direct the canmera away from me,

If any newer or most recent example then I would appreciate anyone when when ssharing
