Downloading the old Basic4PPC library ZIPs

Hi Everyone,

I am teaching my nephew the rudiments of programming and have decided to use the older Basic4PPC IDE (due to my familiarity with it and with .NET programming). It is also a simpler place to start with programming and I am not as familiar with B4J yet.

I have found, however, that I am unable to download a lot of the older DLL libraries written by many of the forum members. I get the following....

Whilst I have some of the DLL's downloaded, some of the example programs I am using require DLL's I do not have and I am unable to download these.

As a start point, I use the thread started by Cableguy, "https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/dll-version-listings.3314/" in order to locate the needed libraries.

I realise that the Basic4PPC IDE is very old and has been superseded by B4J and maybe the older forum entries are now locked for downloading.

Is there any way to obtain the Basic4PPC libraries?

Many thanks in advance

B4J is more powerful and actually much simpler to use than Basic4ppc. Why use such an old and unmaintained tool for teaching?
Yes, more powerful, but much simpler? That is more a statement of belief than a globally true fact. It depends on age training. After decades of functional programming creating habitual ways of thinking, full object oriented thinking is like very difficult to understand and very foreign language.

Before I retired i was working alongside very powerful experts. We covered for each other's weak points, (experts with weak points? If you don't know you have weak points your breadth of knowledge is too narrow to be an actual expert. One time they took a week to find a bug which would never happened in functional coding. There were so many variant installations, with logically connected code unconnected by being spread between disparate objects that tying together all those fragments into a logical whole that would lead to the bug was just plain difficult. and that is easier is it? Experts taking a week to find something that either wouldn't have happened or been trivial to find in functional code because all the relevant facts would have been right in front of your eyes in one place, not spread all over.

So instead of failing to answer the question by instead re-iterating your beliefs, how about simply giving us one simple link to the BasicPPC extension libraries. Us? Yes me too, please nicely. Send it privately in an e-mail as a link to a web page known only to the three of us if putting it in the forum breaks your view of they way things should go.

Sorry, the first like in the first paragraph should be before the second very not the first very,

As they say here, "to each their own."
Personally, I see no point in learning something—in any field—using technology that no longer exists.
It’s a bit like trying to get to Mars using Sputnik.
I believe that if you’re going to learn something, you might as well do it using tools that will help you grow and move forward.
Compared to other programming languages, B4X is both relatively simple and powerful, and the forum contains an incredible number of code snippets to help you get started.
I don’t mean to offend anyone, but it seems difficult to achieve good results by relying on outdated methods.
