I have the latest installed (2.52) but when I try to start up the emulator for 8, 9, 10 or others it sits. I can hear the system trying to work it but I never get an emulator.
Steve05, you would be surprised how many time I have done this. I have installed it the way I have it on my laptop to no avail. So in face of failure, I went back to basics and got it all in. The AVD came up with just API 12 in it and the Readme told me to execute the SDK Manager from command line. Here is the result.
I can run the AVD from the >Tools menu but it doe not do anything. I can see in the Android directory that the only platform that exists is Android-17. I need Android-8 at least for the moment.

BTW: I have stripped out this machine and reinstalled everything per the Tutorials with no luck
