Google Play or appstore ?

Hello,

Until last week , I always think that google play store is better than appstore for developers. What I experienced with google changed all my mind. Yes, some times , getting a rejection for app approval or update in ios is very bad , you have to wait 7 more days generally. But with Google .. OMG

I updated my app last week in google play store and after some hours got a message that my app is suspended. There is no detail. It just says "impersonation" . I was shocked. The idea is totally mine and all the content, art everything belongs to me. So i sent an appeal . After 36 hours i got a message that my app was the same with a appstore app. Guess What ? Of course it is same because thats my app ! I simply ask them : "Can't you compare my legal name in google developer account to itunes developer name you are assuming I stole the app from ? .. Both include my real name so someone must be blind to not to see the connection. Human error it may happen no problem. Guess what

Next week another update and booom. My Local language version of that app ( different packga name ) suspended. And it was an very active app. I again appealed and lost 3 days where all the automatic renewals canceled. lost many customers etc..

Now what Google do is first they suspend your app than ask you to clear yourself and make you lose valuable time and customer altough I am %100 right. So be careful for a situation like this.

Thanks Tufan for your info, what a strange situation personation from your own
app on playstore.!

How did you solve this problem ?,can't you use the same name on playstore and appstore ?
I think I could come in the same situtation when updating my app on playstore it has the
same app name.

No it has nothing to do with package names. If your name on both markets are not same , this can be a problem. You can solve it at the end but it is a big time loss.
It must not ocunt for 2 because my appeals were accepted so it is not my mistake :)

by the way, during a speak with the policy team i learned that We can upload documents prior to uploading our app. Under full description of store listing page you can find a part:
" If your app or store listing is eligible for advance notice to the Google Play App Review team, contact us prior to publishing."

You can use this to avoid any problem.

Document thing is good only if you used 3rd party assets.

https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6320428

We only accept advance notice in the following scenario(s):

* You have written documentation proving that you have permission to use a 3rd party's intellectual property in your app or store listing (e.g. Brand names and logos, graphic assets, audio, etc.).
* You have gambling or casino-style elements in your game, and need to provide your Korean Game Rating and Administrative Committee (GRAC) rating certificate to Google so your game can be distributed in Korea. Learn More

my paid app was suspended a year back, and like other google things, they didnt provided any info why. except this generic line -
REASON FOR REMOVAL: Violation of the intellectual property and impersonation or deceptive behavior provisions of the Content Policy. Please refer to the IP infringement and impersonation policy help article for more information.

I wonder how they deal with graphics that you can buy from services like graphic river.

if your game uses the same main sprite they can reject your app for using the same graphics while you just bought it like the others did.
