Certainly for programmers the aesthetics of development tools is the least important thing of all.
I agree. Material UI has so much wasted screen estate by using a lot of white spaces (by design). Pretty and useful for end user programs, not for a programmers IDE. The less one is distracted when programming, the better! That is what I like about the B4X IDE. Sober, but chunk full of useful programming features and every part of the screen is used to its full potential (maximum editor space, minimal wasted on buttons, inputs, selects, etc...).
