I am developing Android app for the Cubieboard which is NOT a phone type Android device. Has LAN, HDMI out, 2 x USB ports etc but runs Android 4.0.4

for anyones interest Cubieboard | Open ARM Box

It also has an Infrared sender / receiver ...

Has anyone here worked with Infrared on another device ?

How does one access Infrared from B4A ? anyone have a library ?

I assume it is a serial port ... correct ??

Infrared

Thanks Erel...

I believe the Cubieboard is stock-standard Android ... i.e. no corporate wrapper so I think it is effectively "rooted".

I wanted to use IR port for a TV remote type control and capture codes to control my Android app BUT another way I have found is to use network client server with a 2nd app on Android phone acting as a remote control to my app on Cubieboard.

But will investigate the IR as you suggest.

Thanks as usual.

While it is true that there is no standard API on controlling IR, there is a somewhat standard command structure to the IR string that gets sent.
