I believe it is part of firebase. Have you updated Google play service?

That is, I should first check whether on the device the "Google Play service" is current, if not, then let it update by the user?

Not really! Me and Java do not understand each other so well.

I had read around that gave problems with the latest update to Google Play Service. I do not remember if it was linked to Android 8.

Images referred to the fact that you should update the Google Play Service in your SDK Manager.

Even I understand a little, at least for Android. But what little is enough to realize that there are problems

I think it's up to date, I updated everything a few weeks ago.

Should this routine always be executed when doing something with Firebase?
From what activity or service should be performed best?

The error looks similar to this issue: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-admob-ads-sdk/6Qmyiuh_gCE

It looks like a bug in a specific version of Google play services.

You should call this code from the main activity when the program starts.
