Android Question keybord not showing

if i set edittext color the ime panel is not showing all the time on motorola defy ?
is this an issue with my phone or i have to call the ime panel to open , after pressing other edittext box then the faulty one opens as well or if i long press to select text and hit back key then the ime panels opens again .

It sounds like an issue specific to this device. Changing the EditText drawable should not affect the soft keyboard behavior.

I tested in other devices this issue and seems it happens only on particular devices.
