Android Question License Key - Google Play

I've finally registered as a developer on Google Play with the intention of publishing my first App. To upload the APK I realise that I need to sign it with a key other than the Debug key.

Now is this still the correct way of doing it Signing your application before uploading to Google Play
Or do I use the key that Google has provided for the App

Sorry if this is a simple question, its uncharted territory for me and I've spent all morning gathering the screenshots and everything else that is required.

Please follow the link to the tutorial to sign your app. The one provided by Google Play is for licensing and other niceties

EDIT : and keep copies of your key securely to be able to use the same if you had a computer crash for example

This is not a big problem: if my PC crashes I have to kill myself
