I love B4A and am spoiled! I need to bring over my projects
from B4A (Android) to iPad2 (Apple) and need to find as nice
a product as B4A (Basic) to any language. Any ideas ?
Thanks, Jerry

Sorry,
There are no bank vaults large enough to hold the revenues Erel would generate if this amazing product was also ported to Apple... :sign0152:

There are plenty of Apple development environments, in fact it makes me sick how many Apple only ones there are compared to Android.

Google screwed the pooch with its support for devs, Apple caters to them. And the fragmentation really sucks for Android.

Although I've heard apple developers complain that it can take MONTHS for their apps to hit the store. All of my android apps took only minutes....

Seems like the android rebels can launch ideas much quicker with android.

I come from Appstore, i made a gps for blind persons app, it took 3 months to be agreed by appstore, but it is only a small disagrement comparing to the rest. I had to develop in Objective-C, a language very far from other "C", with many limitations, otherwise my App would be refused! This sdk run only on Mac, and only on Intel processor (i bought first a Powermac, big error!). Maybe it was my fault but i never successed to use many solutions for installing Mac OS X and sdk on PC (Windows box emulator, Chameleon, iDeneb, etc). My gps app for IOS became a poor version of my previous one running on PDA (no NMEA sentence access, no free vocal synthesis on 3GS, etc).

So B4a is the paradise. Thank you Mr Erel our god, sure that if an IOS version could exist, Erel would be as rich as Bill...

Apple does not allow programs such as B4A. You MUST code in their SDK.

But would they ever know? Just as B4A ends up as Java, then so would the version that would end up with whatever Apple uses.

However unless you can clone Erel, then I wouldn't want him getting lost in another huge project :) He does an awesome job here.

I have a feeling that with the success b4a is having, if Erel produced a similar development envrioment for iOS, it will have double if not more of the success.

From my research there doesn't seem to be many choices for a solid affordable native app language for iDevice's. There is monotouch which right now costs hell of a lot more than what you can get b4a for. Haven't used it much but I do hear good things about it. Other alternatives using html and javascript are functional but when it comes to a more demanding app, something that produces native packages benefits much more.

There are quite a few choices for making games with iOS, but native APPS.. not so much.

here is an article that talks about how a lot of developers are using web technology with phonegap and how the iPhone is still the #1 device people want to develop for.

Native App Development | Web Directions

Erel has an advantage of an easy to use language with b4a technologies and also the enticing element of producing a fast native app in a one-time affordable purchase and IDE. and can't forget about the awesome community support.

Ultimately, the decision is up to Erel. :sign0188:

Not so, check out stylus. Blockbuilder with coding options, even runs on a pc.
Soon coming for android as well.

Not as god as b4a though when it comes to non game devs.

I am also interested in a link to stylus. Is this purely a game dev tool? I was referring to application development on iOS in my previous post.

Corona

Hi, all just wanted to mention this program called Corona SDK, if you know how t program in Basic4Android, you won't have a problem developing your first app using this software, the cool thing about it is that you can develop an app for android and it will also generate the code for iOS, you can download the trial version which is a complete version, if you develop a nice app and you can't afford the full version you can send them an e-mail and tell them about your app and they will work something out for you, check it out, i've been using it for a few months and it's awesome especially if you want to make really nice games!

Mobile Development Framework | Corona Developer Portal

by the way the new build supports the newest iPad.

cheers,
Walter
