Today I was lucky to be one of the few firsts who bought the new EK-GC100
Galaxy camera from Samsung, which hit the shelves just a week ago here in
China.
It is is very hi-resolution camera with HD video, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and
operates under Android 4.. Camera Zero distance you can stick to the object
and obtain very sharp image with amazing details. the lens is 1:2.8
I immediately installed the TabHost example and the result was much than
on any device. see the attached picture.
Congratulations Erel,

Picture taken from Starbucks Coffee, Shenzhen, China.

Do you have any plans to see if you can program the camera? Like setting ISO, AV and duration of the shutter? It would be great to know if it is possible to do this. Most manufactures limit this type of thing and you could setup for Astro images, time lapse exsposures, etc. If it don't allready have these settings. Please, if you do anything like this, would you report back and let us know.

Thanks

Margret,
You got me : )
Have no experience with this.
also, and unless these settings are already there available for the user, but according to
my observations, developers usually don't release such handles for others to play
with their work.. the inherited fear from Stone Age.
Saying this and to be honest, if there is someone who is still young and has
time and interest in astro, then he may be willing to do this.
sorry if disappointed you

Just if you learn any information as time goes on, please share!

Absolutely,
hacking devices' firmware is illegal, and if you have a Chinese friend who could
go through the plastic box, then don't ask him to share the info.

I hope you didn't think I was asking you to hack your camera. I was asking the same as Susu. Just basically, because it is Android, can you control the device if you write your own software. Not to hack theirs. If the camera lib works then you may very well be able to write whatever software you would like.

No I didn't.. besides hacking one's own device for his own learning purpose is
not illegal. But still now understand what you said better and will try to use the
camera lib as well.

best,
