Queries on tab host

I am displaying the tab host in the middle of the screen. I could able to add the tabhost, and a panel attached to it. But Tab text are coming bottom of the tab host because of the tab host height. I tried to reduce the height, but it reduces from the bottom, where the tab names are displayed?
Is there any other way to achieve this?
How can I change the background color of tabhost?
How can I display the tab host with border to its tab name?
