Yesterday I saw robots that have skeletons very similar to Humans (in terms of number of bones).
Right now a humanoid robot that stands up from any starting position, with movements similar to those of Humans.

Little question.
If you had the skills and resources to create robots, would you make them similar to Humans or with superior potential, such as eyes also in the back of the head or four arms? :confused:
 
Easy.
Standard model: totally human-like
Pro or Advanced model: Superman (from night vision on)
Many optional "intelligence" models. From total idiot to supreme mind (the latter delivered only after my death.. )

I think that we want to create robots with humanoid appearance because we understood how extraordinary a human being is.
Besides being limited we made absolutely incredible things to overcome our limits:
We made aeroplanes to flight, cars and motorbikes to be faster and so on.
I think that robots should be made specifics for the tasks they are intended to:
360 vision for sentinels, 4 arms for certain work or to manipulate certain materials...
But I would not make them humanoids or with multiple abilities.
So mostly I think that I would produce specifics working robots.
Because we are losing the concept to make something to help us and we are running to the road to make something to substitute us.
 
It depends on available time and budget. Take as an example your body. If you bring your arms in front of you and move them both a little to the right or left, and then jump and move them to the other side (left or right) your feet will also change direction. This is angular momentum conservation. The reason I am mentioning this is because certain moves with hands or feet in case of a humanoid robot tend to change the conditions of equilibrium and thus according to every movement you must have a module that takes account over this. This is way too much work or some kind of way to counteract the deviation of an accelerometer. I would create R2D2 from StarWars...

The question is rhetorical: wasting resources to create humanoid robots seems pretty stupid to me.
If you really want and can build robots, make them special, really useful.

I was given by my aunt a booklet created in a university describing the processes of diabetes B. Reading it I noticed that the building plans of this robot definitely cannot be attributed completely to randomness since it is a fully featured system with locks and credentials. Take the number of nucleobases in a random gene and try to calculate the number 4 raised to this number. Then from the above number the nucleobases combined randomely in to something that constitutes instructions for life. For me it is definitely indirectly related to God and more specifically to his legal system of laws of physics. Since I am not completely literate in biology, there is a good chance that I might be wrong and no matter how they combine they may constitute life, but not successful. If someone can point me to some resources or even better answer this, please step in, anytime you want...

Unless you're aspiring to own a Stepford Wife .... As opposed to a holiday at West World - (depending on which option you select, of course).

Nope - apart from the Stepford Wife project - I'd build a nano-bot (pacman) that would run around the body (like the scarabs in The Mummy) and eat up all the cholesterol. These white cells aren't doing it - bad design.

Actually all robot makers are copier or replicater. They did not invent anything by making a robot so they are not genius. Just think when the bicycle was made, it was invention and new thing in the world but making a humanoid robot is just combining mechanical parts in a human shape so where is creativity?
Among many other examples, BiCycle is creativity and making a robot is nothing. All robot makers are so DUMB that they can't think or imagine new type of useful structure. Robots are just electro-mechanical statues and just imagine what the children's toys are... are not they same as robots to play with!
I am a tech loving person by childhood but I don't fascinate by seeing robots but I always fascinate to see the machines in factories and how in a great way of designing, they are making useful products for humans.

Actually it poops. All robots poop in your electric bill.

It seems to me as if the Human Being had invented the bicycle and instead of wheels, had given it two legs!

I can understand what you say but a car of 1980s has also 4 tyres as a car of the present. It is what is inside that matters. If a human like robot could look at me, and scan all my vitals, and perform evaluation of them with AI, would it be the same as a toy robot for the kids even if it made the same moves? And this ends up in your final sentence which you already mention in a way what I say. I agree with you. I can understand the need for a humanoid robot only for tasks as climbing up some steps otherwise I do not see why should we invest so much just to manufacture a mechanical us?
 
I am South African and confused.
A Robot to us is something I think you guys call a Traffic Light and if we would build them we might end up with a Speed Cop !!! ;) (A Humanoid Traffic Thingy)
