Ruminations about job offers

How much a developer should earn per hour (net of taxes)?

Of course, it depends also on the nationality. Maybe I should express a value as a percentage, but compared to what parameter?

So, I'm talking about a European developer.

I think AT LEAST (net) 9€ / hour.

So, PLEASE, do not offer job which requires an entire month of work offering $ 500. Do it yourself!!!

True enough.

However, $500 might be good money for a younger developer or for someone just getting their feet wet in the industry.

Here in Australia I look for an hourly rate of between AUD$40-50 an hour - as you have already mentioned, it depends on the country but, it also depends on the level of experience of the developer as well.

I'm in Paris, France, I pay my maid 10 € net / hour
It's not the same work but, when you say min 9 € /hour, it's a ultra minimum

I agree! Had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. I had already created a lib which could do what he wanted a year ago (+100 hours work), but not being greedy, I just asked for a couple of 100 euros. Suddenly, it was way to much (2 Euros/hour!). Even spend some extra hours to make a demo and a trial lib so he could test it out. But after I gave the demo, nada. If you are not prepared to pay, put it out as a wish, not in the job section.

I guess the problem starts with knowledge and not knowing what's all involved under the hood.

if an app looks simple a lot of people think it's simple at the code side aswell.

if you look at the requests from yesterday it mentions several times "simple" "very simple" etc,
if it really is why doesn't he make it himself then and keep the investment?
Altho the offer is nice, some would request that for $50 or so :)

also keep in mind that if you offer to upload an app to your own apple account that the app gets lost when your dev account expires.
so doing a "few hours of code app" and upload it there for $75 all in is too little knowing that you need to pay $99 each year to keep it online.

forgot to mention that's it's better to agree on a fixed price.

counting by hours is something I don't like to do.
A 'customer' shouldn't be a victim when you're stuck for a few hours due to a problem, lack of knowledge or first time try at something.

LucaMs: "So, PLEASE, do not offer job which requires an entire month of work offering $ 500. Do it yourself!!!!"

But what about USD 500 for a couple days work - assisted by the payor?

Seems fair.

My 50 cts on this : there is a big difference when it comes to speak about price per hour and a package ("forfait" in French).
For a pro dev, the price per hour will be charged for "one shot works" and a package will be negociated for a project. The rates are very different because when you are a pro dev, you have already worked on some parts of code you will reuse inside a project. And you would charge a lot more to be interrupted in your work for a "one shot" intervention.
For example: my hourly rate is 90 euros per hour and a gross average amount per project is about 7500 euros. There is really no relation between the two.

As I have understood you were speaking about the "job offers forum" where some people just ask for some help. Prices could be really different

Be tolerant, humble, compassionate and loving.

The KINDNESS will come back to you in another form - some day when you need it, maybe.

I do agree with @lemonisdead. Our hourly rate is e.g. 93 euro. Projects are also calculated with some factor for the worktime you'll need, but also with the amount of code you'll already have. The code I already have, makes me the "specialist" for that task and gives me a "market advantage" to my competitors.
But nevertheless, the worst case, you make your calculation for a project and at the end you run into negative values  happens sometimes...
