William Lancee Well-Known Member Licensed User Longtime User May 9, 2026 #2 I had to do this for every one of my Android devices (copied from Google search). Steps to Disable Play Protect: Open the Google Play Store app. Tap your profile icon at the top right. Select Play Protect. Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top right. Toggle off "Scan apps with Play Protect". Confirm by clicking "Turn off" in the prompt. [1, 2, 3, 4] Important Notes: Security Risk: Disabling Play Protect makes your device more vulnerable to malicious apps, as it will no longer scan for harmful software. Alternative Method: You can also access these settings through the "[Files by Google" app under the 'Clean' section, according to a Google Community Video. Cannot Turn Off: Individuals enrolled in [Google's Advanced Protection Program may not be able to disable this feature. Re-enable: It is strongly recommended to turn this feature back on after installing your desired application to keep your device safe. [1, 2, 3, 4] Upvote 0
