Programmer's mind, thinking and brain are far better than soccer.
Programmer's output adding many values to human being.
World without programmers will be nothing, in other side: soccer is not important.

What we are gaining from soccers! only entertainment!

Why Soccer's salary are far better than programmer's salary?

NOTICE: I'm a fan of Real Madrid so much :)

Indeed it is a question worth analyzing. I would say that the best three rewarded occupations should be:
1) Doctor
2) Judge/Policeman/Armed Forces emploee
3) Programmer
.
.
.
99) Football/Soccer player

as far as it has to do with everyday life and everyday value given to life.

By the way, here is an excellent video for explaining why there are different English names for the same sport in the two edges of the Atlantic Ocean:

Nearly agree. I'd say

1) Doctor
2) Teacher
...
X) Programmer '<-- to be fair, X<10 is more than enough. We are not that good! ?
...
Y) Soccer/Football player '<-- They give better entertainment than politicians.
Y+1) Politicians
...

No comment! (joking)

The answer is simpler than we think
The footballer has to buy the Ferrari, the 50m yacht, and keep beautiful women who have very expensive habits
For programmer it is sufficient to provide a workstation, a few coffees a day and dry food for the cat

The footballer has to buy the Ferrari,

A Tesla Model 3 would be more than sufficient for me. For now I have to support a Toyota. :) It doesn't matter. They both start with T.

the 50m yacht, and keep beautiful women who have very expensive habits

I have also a 16cm yacht I bought for my nephew when he was 5. It is battery powered and remote controlled. ????

For programmer it is sufficient to provide a workstation, a few coffees a day and dry food for the cat

As you Italians would say "porca miseria". :)

Indeed to have a programmer you have to have a teacher to get him to the level in which he will learn to program.

Programmers are not superstars. We don’t sell merchandise to fans. We give our precious work to our followers, not take from them.

Actually we are superstars but not well appreciated. Everything from an espresso machine to a breathing ventilator requires programming of microcontrollers. We are everywhere... (...and we are coming to get them, MUHEHEHEHEHEHE :) )

The best professions are journalist and politician: they are both paid to tell jokes.

It's a sad thing that the ability of Pinocchio was just a fairy tale.

I believe there are programmers that are high income and also unpopular football players that are low paid.

The key point I can think of is we (as programmers) can think of is to create a passive income. It is something that continuous to happen even though we stop working. For example, we can create some video tutorials on YouTube or Udemy that can generate sales from student purchase or advertising. What we gain is the loyalty from the products we created.
It is similar to the song writer, singers and movie artists. Like Michael Jackson albums may still generating the loyalty fee even though he has already passed away for years. We can get unlimited income if we have done something that has value (provided) that the master piece we have produced doesn't reduce in value through time.

The market is strange, at least how crazy this world is.

There are people in the last few years who do absolutely nothing and make millions to... do it; they are called "influencers" (do you know Chiara Ferragni? Multimillionaire)

Yes, I think we are old when we don't understand what the new generations are doing. I for one still can't figure out why the big brand companies are willing to spend so much to sponsor these people. I think it is like when I was young, I want my parents to buy a toy from the cartoon I watch on TV.

Another word is call KOL (Key Opinion leader) You may asked, "What?" these people are "leaders" ? Some also call Youtubers or Tik Tokers I guess. It just another word for online celebrity or actor. I can't call them artists if they have no sense of art.

Most of our apps are specific for certain tasks requested by client, and this will not make so much income!
People especially recent generations; need exciting social apps ..
Case study: Our National Intelligent "spy" system made an app under fake producer, this app is exciting for almost of our country people, the app when installed it takes all contacts details & save it in app server side database, then all people who installed can search in other people contacts!!!! Almost of people are happy here!! I'm shocked why Google approve it on its play! It has almost of dangerous permissions! The app has ads, every single search is parallel with ads.
This is app is reverse social engineering, spy-er behind it can get alot of social information. People who install it comment on app store wall that app is spying on them, but they are happy with it!
In this case we can see programmer can gain good passive income as b4xer said, but we as programmers kept us in a very narrow zone! we should fight & create exciting IDEAS.

I think many apps like Facebook and any messenger apps also request our permission to check whether our contacts are also users of these apps.
