Whenever the job title "Software Engineer" or "Software Developer" comes into a conversation, most trend to picture a no-social-skills-geek kind of person...
So let's hear from you guys...
I'll start.
Male, 44 YO, Hobbyist, Divorced, in a stable relationship
Female, 48 yo, pro, divorced, in a somehow stable relationship.
Somehow because the man I love is working at about 1000 km so we meet on holidays or weekends
Male, 35yo, hobbyist, in a stable relationship.
Luckely I only sleep 4-5 hours and my girlfriends needs her 8 hours, so I do most of my work at night when it's all quiet in house
Male, 20 years old (21yo next 21° november ), pro & hobbyst & other (i develop also when i sleep, but don't ask me how i can if you don't want to give me 1000000+ dollars), in a stable relationship
Male, 55 years old, married, professional & hobbyst, working only 4 days a week, rest is family, mountains, cooking, reading, travelling...better to work less!!
Male, 53 years old, married for 25 years, kids of 22 and 17, hobbyist (alongside running as my other main hobby).
I've always been known as a "nerd" or "geek" with a leaning towards techie stuff ;-)
Back in the '80s when I had my electronic engineering classes we were about 400 students (first year, then a lot less..) of which only 10 were women.
About 20 years later ladies' number increased a lot and, if I can say it, many were really pretty girls.
Nowadays I often meet very competent tech women but it is still true that men are a strong majority.
