For example I would like to improve the appearance of my edittexts (so they look like those in the SQLEXAMPLE). When I apply the holo.light the only difference I see is a change in the background colour. Does a theme not set defaults for views? Many thanks to anyone who can help.

What effect should this have on the background of edittexts? I would like to see a contrast between the edittext and the overall background. Similar to the edittexts in the SQLExample.
