On 10 December the birthdate of Ada Lovelace who was born in 1815, was an associate of Charles Babbage, and, daughter of Lord Byron, will be "celebrated".

Many believe her to be the first programmer having devised methods for the proposed Babbage Analytical Engine to perform computational mathematical actions.

The Ada programming language was dedicated to her.
while that was apparently not that successful, (maybe not) one would have to speculate about that since it was taken up in the Air Traffic Control sector and used for the backend systems to track and control aircraft with us mob on board. maybe it was just well suited to pure mechanical linear logic, or something.

the scans of her notes and explanations are very interesting to read and, as commentators point out, amazingly concurrent with today. Alan Turing, (Bletchley Park etc) was one of those who began to go back and investigate her writing - which is (her writing) mainly confined to commentary on a paper by an Italian writer on the Analytical Engine (Babbage didn't write much of anything descriptive about it) - Lovelace translated the paper and Babbage supported her adding the comments she made.
