That means things like Smart Bluetooth (BLE) will be possible with Android. Will let anyone know when it arrives on my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. So I guess we need people to do new notification and Bluetooth libraries It seems you will be able to catch notifications from other apps. Cheers,

AllyAndroid Member Licensed User Longtime User Jul 25, 2013 #3 CNET has this about the upgrades: "Starting Wednesday, the original Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets, along with Google's Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones, will get the upgrades over the air, said Hugo Barra, vice president of Android product management." But I haven't received any update yet. Upvote 0

jjcc Member Licensed User Longtime User Jul 25, 2013 #4 Great! I've downloaed Android 4.3. There's a sample project for that. BLE is really significant step for Android. Many healthcare/sports devices and some widgets like StickNFind can be connected to Android phone. I wish I have time to to develop a BLE lib. However, it needs some hardware gears for testing in order to write code. I'm going the build a couple of BLE tags in a few months. For those want to create the BLE lib, I suggest using a development kit from TI: https://estore.ti.com/Product3.aspx?ProductId=3192 Upvote 0

AllyAndroid Member Licensed User Longtime User Jul 27, 2013 #7 I like the ability to be able to add users. I can setup an account for my grandkids and only allow them certain apps to access. I also like the App Ops hidden function that allows you to look at your apps permissions and block any that you don't want. But I had to download an app called Permission Manager to run App Ops. Anybody know the Intent to call App Ops? Upvote 0
