Black vs. white background and power consumption

If an app has a mostly white background, would that consume much more battery power than the same app with a mostly black background? Thanks.

That actually depends on the device's display.
On most SAMOLEDs 'black' pixels actually turn off the transistors in the matrix.
So atleast on the GalaxyS I know that black does save power.
