Change default color for button press, element selcection etc

Hi,

My version of android has a default selection colour of sky blue. I think ICS is orange.

When I press a button or select a text box this color is shown.

How do I change this across my entire app?

I'm not sure about textboxes, but as for a button, you may want to search for 9-patch PNGs to use as buttons. It's what I use in mine. You can define various states, including default and pressed. You would, however, have to create your own 9-patch or search online for them.

Thank you, however I really need to change the global setting as it effects a lot of controls.

For example- it also effects the underline color on inactive tabs within a TabHost, border around active text box and color of button press.

ICS default color is blue. There is no simple way to replace all colors. In many cases these are not solid colors but rather gradients or even images.

Does that mean impossible?

I have root access to the tablet if that makes a difference.

You can choose a different theme for your app, however there is no simple way to choose the default colors yourself.
