Android Question Delay whilst menu closes

Hi

I am using the Sliding Menu library to great effect. When the user clicks an item on the menu, it first closes the menu and then loads the activity selected. However, the menu seems to pause whilst closing before starting the activity which doesn't look very professional. Is there away of delaying the loading of the activity until after the menu has closed?

You can use a timer to start the activity in one or two seconds.
